Planning a Visit to HPBC

Planning a Visit

Coming to a new church for the first time can be an intimidating thought - but it doesn't have to be! We'd love to share some of the need-to-know things about our church that will help you feel welcomed as part of the church family in no time. From the moment you set out from home, to the moment we part until next week, here’s what you can expect on a regular Sunday morning.

Need to Know

The Basics

You can find our church at 199 Berwick Street in Woodstock, ON. There’s general and handicapped parking in the back and a few spaces of street parking out front. Our service starts at 10:30 am but we’d love for you to join us early in our Connection Cafe for morning fellowship. Each week our worship team will lead us in 3 - 4 songs and one of our pastors will preach from the word for around 40 minutes. We follow an expository preaching style - making our way steadily through God’s word. Our service usually concludes around 11:45 am.

Family Friendly Worship

We love families and believe children are a blessing! If you have little ones, we have a wonderful program geared to their age and stage. If you’re a family that prefers to stay together for the full Sunday service, your kids are always welcome to remain in the service.

Our nursery is open to children under the age of two for a special time of prayer, songs, and play. Our team is made up of trained and screened individuals that are happy to serve in this way.

Curious Cubs & Discovery Park

For older children, we have Curious Cubs (ages 3-5), and Discovery Park (ages 6-9). When you arrive, please stop by the registration desk to complete a basic form for each child. Your child will receive a name tag to wear during their service. Once you’re registered, your family can find a spot in the sanctuary and our ushers would be glad to help seat you. Kids will join us for a time of united worship before being prayerfully dismissed for their program. This is a time of songs, games, and activities that share the gospel in a way kids can understand. After the service, you’ll head downstairs to collect your children.

Nice to Know

Coffee and Fellowship

Our Connection Cafe is a great place to grab a coffee and meet some new faces. Look for the sign or just follow your nose! Our café is open at 9:30 am until the service begins. To help our cleaning staff, we ask that no coffee be brought into the sanctuary.

Our main floor washrooms are just outside the café and across from our bulletin board. Be sure to check out upcoming events at our church but also in our community. For those who may require an accessible washroom, we have one located on the main floor, in the library / nursery hallway.

Have Questions? What do I Wear?

Our Information Desk is a great place to ask questions and get directions. We’d love for you to check in to receive a visitor’s package we’ve prepared just for you!

Don’t worry too much about what to wear. We want people to feel comfortable and will welcome you regardless. We are thrilled that you’re joining us and are more interested in getting to know you.

Did you Know?

We have a Church Library

Our church library is filled with tons of great resources! You’ll find Bible studies, books on Christian living, fiction for all ages, and DVDs for family movie night. Our library is located just down the hall from our Nursery and Connection Cafe.

About "The Box" Tradition

“The Box” is a long-standing tradition at Huron Park Baptist Church. Each week, someone will put a mystery item in the box and at the appointed time in the service, Pastor Alec or Pastor Ethan will open the box to reveal the contents. They will then need to fashion an impromptu object lesson relating the surprise item to our faith walk. It’s our way of keeping our pastors on their toes!

We Have a Full-Sized Gym

Not only do we use our gym for large church-wide events like potlucks and banquets, but our youth regularly put it to good use on Tuesday and Thursday Youth nights. Our gym is also frequently used for larger community connections. In the summer, we are glad to host our annual Basketball Power Camp. In the winter, our gym hosts the local work of Operation Sharing’s “The Christmas Place” project.
